Reshaping (Rhinoplasty)
A Rhinoplasty not only
alters the proportion and contour of the nose, but can
change the contour of the whole face and enhance the
overall appearance. Rhinoplasty, more commonly known
as nose-reshaping, is one of the most common of all
plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can reduce or
increase the size of your nose, change the shape of
the bridge or the tip of the nose, narrow the span of
the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose
and the upper lip. The procedure consists of a reshaping
of the cartilage, bone and sometimes the soft tissue
of the nose. There is no standard procedure for Rhinoplasty.
It is important for the surgeon to take into account
the nasal features the patient would like changed and
then to carefully examine the nose and overlying deviation
of the nasal septum (the structure supporting the nose
and separating it into 2 sides).

The
nose is the foundation upon which all other facial features
are bridged and any changes made can affect the look
of the entire face. Cosmetic surgeries to the nose can
help with a number of concerns that the patient may
have – The surgeon can reduce the overall size
of the nose, can narrow or widen the width of the nose,
improve the angle between the nose and the upper lip
and even remove any unwanted bump or adjust the nose
tip. Unbalanced, crooked or curved noses can be made
straighter and made more symmetrical.
Not all Rhinoplasty gives dramatic results. The removal
of a slight bump on the nose or reduction of an oversized
tip may result in an improvement that doesn’t
attract a great deal of attention. Your surgery should
improve your appearance without drawing attention to
it. The aim is not to create a new nose but improve
and enhance the one you have.
